another thing you may also find in more remote areas (& cheaper).... is metal plumbing strapping... it comes in a roll... you cut it to length... put a bolt & nut on the ends......through holes all along it's length... worked real well for me once after knocking my muffler loose on a really wash-boarded way back road. heck it stayed on another 10k until I replace the muffler. Still carry the extra and a few bolts.

go to a hardware store and buy three very oversize stainless-steel straps with the little worm-screw tightening device on the end, the type used to secure rubber hoses. they should secure your muffler for a reasonable period of time. art, '82 westy
