NO, terminal 87 is not the one you want to connect to. Look at page 97.33b and you can see that the fridge relay has the main current pins reversed from the aux bat relay diagram. It also has 2 pin 87s since VW uses that relay connection as a junction point to also carry always on power to the rest of the Westy kitchen. Pin 30 is the output pin for the Westy fridge relay. You would want to piggy back on pin 30 to do what you are considering.

The answer to you last question is, NO, that is not the best way to hook up a 2nd battery. You should use a second relay, controlled by pin 30 of the first relay, and switching a #10 wire run directly from the main battery, to the second relay, out of the second relay a #10 on to the second battery. I would use a 30 amp fuse at the main battery end of the new #10 wire.
