Subject: URGENT HELP NEEDED in Las Vegas
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

I have an 85 Westfalia with a 2.1 in it. I drove the last 40 miles into Vegas (thankfully mostly flat or downhill) because every time the van had to push me up even a slight grade (1%) or into a headwind, it would rock back and forth intermittently (kind of like having bad fuel in the engine). I am on a cross country trip with my stuff in it (California to Ontario) and I need the van to work. After some near death experiences on I95 (fast and unforgiving motorists and intermittent shoulders/break-down lanes), I made it to town and am now trying to diagnose and determine the next steps. I found Meyer's for VW repairs (Roadhaus referral) and am waiting to be towed there for a Monday morning service. It did not rock side to side, jump or make and noises. The main bearing whines but when the car surged/lurched/depowered intermittently, it depowered. Any help, advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Fintan Clarke 408-829-6966 (Whie travelling) and fclarke45@sprintpcs.com for brief emails. I hope I get a good nights sleep tonight.......it isn't the same without the bed in my Westy :(
