George,

I concur but would like to make two further observations:

1) one man's flotsam is another man's jetsam 2) some is better than none, given the practical inability to search the archives at all while broke down on the side of the road, a DVD with which I could sort my own flotsam and jetsam is a marked improvement and would at least give me something constructive to do until the AAA truck arrived.

That being said, a list archivist is also a darn good idea, are you volunteering?

Jorge,

Fine idea except, as I have said before, to have an archive requires first an archivist to separate the flotsam from the jetsam. If an archivist did his thing with the mass of material stored within the Vanagon "archives", the result probably would not even consume a 3.5" floppy. Short of Chinese motorcycle jackets, sometimes I think one of the greatest affronts to the human condition has been the availability of cheap bytes.

George
