Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who provided info on O2 sensors and materials to read about the fuel injection system.

And thanks to everyone who provided comments on mechanics in Boulder.

I took Matilda to Wolfsburg Autowerks, where Mark adjusted the lifter valves and studied my O2 sensor. Turns out it was not fried in the engine overheat. But a screw on the air flow meter needed adjusting, and that adjusted the mix, and now Matilda is running fine even with the O2 sensor connected.

Good thing!

Wolfsburg Autowerks is the only car repair place I've ever been to that is Seriously Clean. I'm not sure what this says about them. They don't actually work on cars? They are all wizards and do their repairs with a wave of their wands and a few incantations instead of tools and grease? I dunno. But they were professional and efficient and didn't take the opportunity to rip me off and sell me parts I thought I needed but turned out not to.

They were also a tad condescending when I sought a better of explanation of what they had done and why that fixed the fuel mix problem, insulting about "those amateurs on the internet," and a few other things, but I guess you can't have everything!

And Bob, after they initially gave me a long shpiel about how they only buy rebuilds from Go Westy, they were very complimentary about your engine!

Joy
