James, You might have something clogging the screen in the tank which restricts the flow. I replaced my tank, and last fall on a road trip, I spent the day under an Oregon bridge in a rainstorm trying to figure out why the engine wasn't getting gas. I reversed the leads to the pump and backflushed the pump (with the filter removed). This got me going again. When I got home, I removed the tank and rinsed it out and it has a leaves, string, plastic wrappers- that was all from a gas station in Bakersfield. When the pump is known to be good, and then it gets noisy, that can be fuel starvation. If you backflush the pump, make sure the filter is off, or, backflush with the filter on into a bowl to see what's in your filter. I can only wonder how all that garbage got into the gas in the first place. Robert 1982 Westfalia
