James, After the overflow tank fills, the fluid is violently expelled out the small holes in the top by the force of coolant expanding into steam. It then proceeds to coat every square inch of the engine compartment. Hence the difficulty identifying the source. As the engine cooled, while you made your repairs (nicely done), it drew back the contents of the overflow tank. All in all; I would say you were VERY lucky. Ken Lewis http://neksiwel.20m.com/ |
