Hello Everyone: My problems this time around are recent in occurrence so I will get started. After putting on a new Bosch fuel pump on my 90GL only a few months ago, I am experiencing low fuel pressure according to the gauge, but only after the engine warms up. Starts off like the specs say it should, but gradually the max pressure is around 28 and decell(high vacuum) low 20's. Could this be grunge in the intake coming from the tank, or is the pump getting ready to eat it. It's quiet as a mouse, as you would expect for a relatively new pump. The engine coolant was reading high the other day as well. don't think the two are related, but you never know. Didn't check to see if the fan was working properly, but I did have the overflow bottle over the screw cap by the time I got to the post office. My water temp gets to about 110 C and stabilizes there and has since I added the sending unit. When the overflow bottle was too full, the needle was at 120C and I've never een that before. Fan or closed thermo stat? Hope it's not the heads going south. I spent too much money on that rebuild for this to be tanking so soon. Last item: Someone on the list a while a go mentioned that those like me that have discontinued usage of their power steering pump, would have to find a way to keep fluid up in the rack section for lubrication. My steering is suffering a little from stiffness, and since I no longer want power steering, what should I be lubricating inside the rack with Moly grease? I'd like to make the rack work a while longer wwhile I save my pennies to get a new or rebuilt manual syteering rack. thanks in advance. Max |
