I have never had my Audiovox Cruise unit kick out on any hill either in the +4 years I have had it; I use it anytime I get the opportunity. It will slow down around 5 mph unless I tap the accelerator at the bottom of the hill. It still beats keeping my foot on the gas constantly though.

Good luck,

The reservoir is the type with its own non return valve and I've yet to have it "Kick out" on me while climbing a hill. I've had to downshift because the hill was too steep, but the cruise control was still hanging in there at the time.

A good reservoir that holds its vacuum is the answer to that problem. I agree, though, that the full electronic types don't have the problem to begin with.
