Mine does the same thing; the temp gauge runs higher in the cooler months when I am not using the A/C than during the time of year when I am. The needle will go almost to the 3/4 mark and the radiator fan will turn on high during the winter; that never happens during the rest of the year.

Now its to the point here in Orlando where I am running the A/C on the way to work in the morning, so the temperature gauge stays pretty constant - right over the LED.

You could also check the fan switch behind the lower grille, there might be some condensation between the contacts that is making the fan run in the morning especially if you are parking outdoors overnight.

Good luck,

Tim
