What plastic?

Our screens screech, too. And I'd love to find a way to make them stoppit for when I want to open or close the windows in the wee hours of the morning.

My screens seem to be in an aluminum - not plastic - frame. There's a small plastic "guide" ... is that the plastic you're referring to? It's nowhere large enough to "bow" ... just an inch or so.

BTW, I tried spraying onto the stationary part of the window (also aluminum) some of Simon's silicon lubricant spray that he uses on his m'cycle. Didn't allay the screeching at all.
