The bolts on my AC were not installed correctly by some previous mechanic. Consequently, the thing vibrated until it wore through the cast bosses on the compressor case. Now it is not operational in that condition. I have found that the case has another set of bosses as part of the AC case and they are in a position that I can remount the compressor on the compressor mount, but the refrigerant pipe that comes out the end will have to be mounted in such a way that the Shrader filler valve will no longer be 'UP" but instead, "DOWN". My question is, given that the compressor still works fine, will this change in position make any difference as long as the valve can be reached for service? TIA. John Rodgers 88 GL Driver |
