Now I have a few questions(ok alot of questions).
1) does any body sell these?I have not ckecked my vw dealer yet.
2)I have the blower motor from the back heater and would like to know if =
these are interchangeable?
3)does the casing that goes around the motor itself come with a new one =
or is there some special way to remove it?My blower seems so rusted it =
will not budge.
4)I have thought about hooking up an after market blower into the casing =
and mounting this behind the glove compartment. Any thoughts?
5) is there any thing else that should be replaced while I have every =
thing apart?
6)In my bentley it says to spray with d-17. I have know idea what this =
is or where to get it.
This is all in a 85 westy.
Patrick, I have the front fan motors. See my _Vanagon Items Forsale_
(http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/sales.htm) webpage. Blower fan and motor, front
heater, 8100, 251 819 015 - $112.50. They are buried deep under the dash.
Compete dash removal is necessary. Then the heater unit must be removed.
Disconnection of the coolant lines to the heater is necessary. Then the plastic
heater box must be split open. It is glue sealed from the factory. Reseal
with silicon sealant or edge clips. Good clean up inside will be needed. Most
likely all the foam seals on all the air directing moveable flaps will need
replacing. Make a cover for the end bearing on the new fan motor and glue in
place before installing the new motor. Clean up any rust evident under the
dash on the firewall and elsewhere. Use a good rust prevention product like
Krown Oil or Fluid Film. Make sure all cables that operate heater functions
are working before putting things back. Now's the time to repair any wiring
issues and burnt out dash lights too. Then put everything back as it was and
your good to go again.
Cheers,
