Usually the tank cracks around the sensor hole. So when the sensor pops out the tank is usually done at that point (unless it is a new tank with a used sensor). I always recommend folks replace the sensor ($9) with a new tank ($29), that way they are both new and will seal properly. Also if your tank is yellow or tan in color you should check the area around the pressure cap. Almost every 2.1l Vanagon that comes in here has a crack in the expansion tank running from the pressure cap area towards the sensor area. At this point the tank should be replaced immediately. We have OE tanks and good quality aftermarket sensors in stock if you need one.
