Subject: Vacuum Powered Coolant Changeout
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Time to change the coolant.

I went by the local garage to inquire about having them do the job, as I'm a bit crippled up for the time being and it's difficult getting down and under.

The mechanic said they have a vacuum coolant changer whereby they draw out the coolant and then backfill with fresh coolant. Said it would take about 10-15 minutes, start to finish. The vacuum created in the system draws the new coolant back in without introducing air into the system ( yeah, right!!!) Supposed to clean the radiator in the process.

Anybody ever seen this done, or had it done. I'm hesitant.

Any feedback on this pro or con would be appreciated.

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
