Do it like it says to do it in the Bentley; remove the hubs and brake drums together. It makes the job much easier and, since the drums have a sheet steel center, you do not risk deforming them. Also, you do not risk Brinelling the bearings. Above all, it will remove the uncertainties and take less time to do it as the manual says.
