That sensor screws in.  Usually, when one is forced out the threads are
no longer any good and the sensor has to be replaced.

When I put those sensors in I use vaseline on the O-Ring and the
threads.  That way it screws in easier and I can tell how tight I'm
getting it ... and the O-Ring seals better to boot.

You really need to find out why it was forced out.  Your coolant system
was obviously overpressurized.  If the overheating (maybe due to a
clogged radiator) or overpressurizing (maybe due to combustion gasses
entering the coolant) isn't corrected, then the new sensor is likely to
be shot out of the tank somewhere down the road and it will have to be
replaced, too.
