Subject: Question adding BEHR front AC to existing rear AC
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

I am bringing my van in to a local VW shop to convert from R12, replace the compressor (there is one leak in the system at the compressor - but that is getting replaced anyway). The shop indicated that they'll have to have some AC lines fabricated as part of the install, which leaves me wondering...

The existing AC system goes from compressor in the rear to condensor in the front then back to an evaporator in the rear. Since the BEHR unit has its own internal evaporator wouldn't the AC line just T off of the existing lines coming out of the evaporator? Is there any reason that new lines would need to be run back to the compressor?

Thoughts? Chris
