Howdy,

Any of you that have messed around with the instrument clusters in our beloved Vanagons have probably noticed that the 14 pin electrical connector that plugs into the cluster is most cool. It simply pops open so that you can move around wires at will. Most electrical connectors available at your FLAPS require special tools to insert and remove the wires. Do any of you happen to know where I could track a similar connector. I have spent a bit of time googling and can't come up with it.

BTW....I am about to dig into the 14 pin connector on my AC 82 vanagon. Last weekend I pulled the cluster from an 87 Wolfsburg at a pick 'n' pull in WI. It was a steal at $20 and now I will have a tach in my bus!

Thanks, Jake

So, I went out to the GoldBrick (86 Syncro) to go to work. The gas gauge was reading empty. But it has a full tank. Most annoying. Especially in light of the fact that the sender unit was replaced 4 years ago...

I checked and no the wires were still attached.

So how likely is it that the gauge is the issue rather than the sender unit? And does anybody know the range of resistance on the sender unit?
