Hi Kim,

When this happenened on my old Syncro, it was the ground leg on the
back-plate of the sender (inside the tank) that was kaput. I was able to
locally ground the sender to one of the attachment bolts, and splice that
ground to the sender ground wire leading to the gauge. It worked fine up to
the day I sold it. Did I say I was cheap, er.. frugal?

If your water temp gauge is still working (and you haven't pulled your tach
apart lately) my guess is that it is probably the sender, especially if an
ohmeter indicates infinite resistance across the connector.

So, I went out to the GoldBrick (86 Syncro) to go to work. The gas gauge was
reading empty. But it has a full tank. Most annoying.
Especially in light of the fact that the sender unit was replaced 4 years
ago...

I checked and no the wires were still attached.

So how likely is it that the gauge is the issue rather than the sender unit?
And does anybody know the range of resistance on the sender unit?
