Hi all. I just got my '87 syncro westy back from the shop last night. Its gorgeous! I'm very happy with the work done, even if it was a whole lot more than I expected when I bought it (caveat emptor).

Anyway, so now the body is great, time to make sure it doesn't rust away from the bottom up. I had hoped to get it sprayed with waxoyl but can't seem to find anyone here in nj that does it. I have a ziebarts right down the street here but am hesitant to use it. What sort of undercoating have folks here done? Its a pretty busy place under there, I want to make sure I get something that penetrates well without making a mess of everything.

One other thing: when it was repainted pearl white, they matched the paint to the door jam, instead of the whiter shade it had been. It is noticably different from the top. After looking at some pics I have saved it seems this may be right, as it appears from some of the others that their tops are whiter too. If so I'm speculating a PO had it repainted to match the top. Any ideas?

regards rob infante
