Jim, I had the same problem, I think. The bends in the steel pipe from the engine to the radiator had corroded north of the engine compartment. I poked around at the flake corrosion and it went from leak to gush. Long story short- I cut out the bad portion and used 1 1/4" copper coupled to the old with rubber hose. All in the winter in Chicago. All at the curb. Only regret.. I left the copper bare and the salt is turning it green.
