When working at PEP boys I ran into this same problem.. They look at a generic corporate chart that says all VW is x lbs and all mercedes is y lbs. The problem is that the charts do not account for the VW vanagons or for the mercedes suv vehicles which both are up at the 125 to 135 foot pounds of torque. The same company that makes the PEP boys charts also makes them for other tire vendors. Same errors.
