Subject: alternator questions/ just bought a reman.alt..
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi my 85 vw vzns alt light came on. I went to the local pep boys here in delawareand the replacement one has an addition 12v terminal post on it. I'm assuming its for the camper accesories and such (mine is a standard van). BUT the blue wire that plugs into the back from the harness has no where to go. The are 3 male blade type connections on the back. One with an plastic shiel around it located on the opposite side from the 12v post. and one on the 12v post and one just below the 12v/ post. On the old Alt i removed a small black squared thing mounted with a single screw, with a sing wire connecting to a similar blade type connector on the back of the alt. DOES anyone know what this is? its about the size of a quarter. I plugged my blue wire to the blade connector to the farthest side blade on the alt, but the dummy light came on bright. so i put it on the 12/v post blade. Is this correct? can anyone help me?
