On mercedes that I worked on it was mounted on the fender well in the engine bay. On the eurovans that I worked on it was on the drivers side right near the radiator.

By the way it is on the six cylinder eurovans not the five cylinder models. 251 965 561 B additional water pump.

On both vehicles it was not directly in the line of the large hoses but valved over to them through smaller diameter hoses.

If I read the clamps correctly the pump has 27mm and the rad has 40mm spring clamps. About 7/8 and 1.25 inch hoses.
