Subject: stuck in fourth gear
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hello, the recent bout w/vanagon syndrome (or imitation vs) caused my shifter to get stuck in 4th gear . All the bucking , I think, has caused the shift mechinism to get out of adjustment. The shifter would move all over the place when bucking. I hope this is the problem , and not the 3-4 slider inside the transmission. I was fearing that damage to this may happen while I was figuring out the solution. I can get the trans out of 4th by pushing down on the stick , like I want to get into reverse. If I catch reverse at 50mph by doing this, I think the problem will be moot.Definately not an easy downshift. Anyone seen this problem before? I typed" fourth gear" into the archives and got nothing.I can live like this, but the excitement each time I down shift really isnt needed here.
