Howdy,

Well I made one of those embarrassing and expensive mistakes that I would rather keep to myself, but in the hopes of correcting the mistake I am going to share it with the list. I purchased a brand spanking new cylinder head temp gauge from Bus Depot for my new Boston Bob engine in my AC 82 Westy. Well, I didn't pay enough attention to the wiring diagram and ran power and ground to the two connections on the gauge for the sender. The needle immediately maxed out and the sender started smoking. Now when I connect it up properly (no power to sender circuit, only to the lights on the gauge) the gauge doesn't do anything. Is there any way to tell if

1. the sender is bad 2. the gauge is bad 3. both are shot

I hate it when I make stupid mistakes!

Cheers, Jake

Not to be exceedingly dense but how do I determine if there is a vacuum leak? I'm not really sure which lines are vacuum and which are not.

Does any of our list vendors sell some kind of kit to replace all these 27 year old plastics?
