Thanks to everybody who has responded on my issue; I truly appreciate it!

Now for the excruciatingly embarrassing part...

I recently installed an instrument cluster from an '84. Per a suggestion from Zoran, I let the engine run until nice and hot and nearly maxing out on the temp gauge, then switched the new cluster out for my old original cluster.

The temp on the original cluster gauge shows just slightly north of the LED, while the new cluster shows nearly maxed out. I switched them back and forth several times because I didn't believe my eyes the first time.

After a new radiator, flushing the system, two bleeds, and replacing the thermostat, I now realize that it was a bad gauge. I think that the second bleeding yesterday took care of any bubbles, because I didn't have any leakage out of the second overflow tank after running it as hot as possible just now.

I apologize for being an idiot, but on the plus side the cooling system is basically new, and the problem has been solved.

I owe everybody on the list a cold, cold beer for wasting valuable time!!
