I have a pr9inted copy of this article DIY-JUNKYARD TIG in my shop with hopes of one day playing around with the idea.. http://classicbroncos.com/homemade-welder.shtml I'm thinking I could possibly use some Piezo mechanism to get the high voltage initial spark or maybe a 12vt coil with some minor circutry.

anyways I don't see why you couldn't rig it up as a 2nd alt somehow (the key is in the somehow)

they say it takes a whole 5hp on household electric.. thats a few HP on a engine .. but I'd think it could handle it with a governing device of some sort (modified cruise control?) Lastly a major drawback to this on your car, is it has to be able to run.. and hope you donlt break a piece you need for that..

Dan Stevens handyman of the Nth dimension.
