Subject:      Beat the heat portable AC unit for vanagon $77 bucks

Well, its ALMOST July here and its definitely beginning to warm up. 
I was just at Sams Club and noticed they had a very small AC window unit
that puts out 5150 btu and is quite energy efficient draws 4.5 amps 110vt  530 watts.  $77 BUCKS!


It was running and the ice cold air sure felt good. I lifted it up to see how heavy, I am guessing 
40-50 lbs. Its only about a 12 inches tall and a little bit longer not much off from a cube. 

Just wondering if my 1000 watt AC inverter would handle it while the engine is running. 

I think its small enough to ride in the passenger floor area of the front seat,
I would have to duct the warm air out with a dryer vent hose. 

I know I saw a unit like this rigged up in the passenger window. 

not sure if the rating on the label is start amps or continuos.
