Subject: R134 conversion
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi All,

I had the AC on my 89 Westy converted from R12 to R134 four years ago. Each year since the conversion, I have had to get a new re-manufactured compressor installed due to the compressor leaking. The place that did the conversion has done each replacement compressor for free (under warranty) but tells me that the R134 conversion was a mistake. They tell me that they have 5 other customers with the same issue and that the system was never a very good AC system and that converting makes it even worse.

I see from the archives that other people have done the R134 conversion with apparently better luck than I. Has anyone got any ideas about what could be going on here? The repair place is very good and uses quality re-manufactured compressors, but they just keep leaking after about 1 years of use.

Thanks for your help.

-Tom Bauer
