At a computer repair place I once worked the Mac guys had a tool to discharge the cap for the CRT in the iMacs they worked on. Looked like a lead with alligator clip on one end and a probe on the other. It had a beefy insulated handle. I assume there was a big resistor in there. Edward PS.
