Get a 2005 model! (sorry if it already appeared on the list, I did a search with no results so here I am) It's a French page (the van only available in Europ I guess, at least not in North America) http://www.volkswagen-utilitaires.fr/fr/home/index.html In English: a ± similar one: http://www.volkswagencampers.nl/index/en/home/0,8678,_D0Len,00.html Anything you want: You name it! It has it! -130 or 174 hp TDI engine. hey! the min is 130hp! -4-motion - it's not a Westfalia technically, because it's all built by VW, but it sleeps 4, has Fridge, furnace, also a heater, etc. pop top of course. Seems well built. Lots of aluminum, light, etc. http://www.volkswagen-utilitaires.fr/california/t1.htm http://www.volkswagen-utilitaires.fr/california/t2.htm http://www.volkswagen-utilitaires.fr/california/t3.htm prices start at 40,000 euros... up to 50k for the 4 motion + confort option (extra heater+5th seat+ heating seats+...) + 174hp engine (all TDI). It's expensive (to me). but that makes it about the same price in US$+tx (taxes included in euro). I think that it's not too bad. quite well in the same price range as the vanagon at the time. + you get many extras! What I like, apart from the fact it's well done, and that you can get all the extras (powerfull diesel engine, 4wd, well done), is that it shows that VW still believe in that kind of concept. and that's good news to me! (too bad VWoA does not.) JP |
