this is a general method if you have problems to open a specific file: it could be that there is a a misspelling in the file name or some other problems. So instead of opening the file http://vw.upnorth.net/files/Summer_Vacation.pdf directly, type in http://vw.upnorth.net/files and go to the directory where the file is located. Now it might happen that you don't have permission to access this directory, then you could try to go one higher up and see what you get. In our case we get into the directory http://vw.upnorth.net/files and you see the files and info about the size of the file. You can try to open/download the file now.
