Hummm, I bet the trimming was probably necessary since I have an "other than stock" gear shift lever. I've got a 5spd transmission, and the required shifting linkage, tranny mount, blah blah, all the way to the stock'ish looking "5spd" shift knob. Could it be that the new shifter I bought for the 5spd is thicker? Lemme know if any of y'all want a picture of this.
