Anybody ever cut this bar away?

I believe it keeps both sides of the z bed mechanism in synch as you pull the seat out and make it into a bed and back to a bench. 

If you cut the bar out how bad is it to pull the operate it?

It has no support for load whatsoever. 

Somebody has to have cut it out before. 

I guess I could scribe it well and cut it in the middle and reweld it back if need be. 

I would really like to have it not be there.
