JP,

You need 251 971 284 H (the other is for vans w/o A/C). $29.17 from Bus Depot:

http://busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=251971284H

The ballast resistor drops the voltage sent to the fan to give it a lower speed. These burn out after several years, and the symptom is that the fan no longer comes on a slow speed, which allows higher temperatures until the fan finally comes on at high speed.

You can test the resistor by removing the plug on the temperature switch located in the radiator and shorting the connections in the plug, two at a time. If the fan only runs in high speed no matter which two leads you connect, the resistor is bad.

If you need more specifics on the test procedure (wire colors, etc.) let me know...
