Al Knoll sent you this eBay item: NORDMENDE GLOBETRAVELLER IV 13 BANDS SHORTWAVE AM FM (#5785772690)Thanks Al, For sending me this link, THAT IS THE exact radio we had in our new 69 family westy. It took up the whole space under the glove box. I played around with it tuning in stuff from all over the world as a 10yr old it was pretty fun.

Just looking at that row of buttons and the layout of the tuner, and I am back in 69

Cheers.

Doug

NORDMENDE GLOBETRAVELLER IV 13 BANDS SHORTWAVE AM FM WITH RF PREAMPLIFIER BUILT IN--REALLY BRINGS IN THE SW Item number: 5785772690

Seller: fortunes_of_war ( 519) Positive Feedback: 98.3% Member since May-08-96 in United States Current bid: US $189.94 Time left: 1 days 3 hours 7-day listing Ends Jul-05-05 22:37:40 PDT Item location: SO-CAL United States Ships to: United States Summary Here is a fine example of a wonderful radio, The Nordmende Globetraveller IV. This radio is electronically like the Globetraveller III; however, there is a difference. The IV orginally had an added Police Band in the 2 Meter area. Frankly, the reception there was nothing to write home about. Consequenty, the innovative previous owner of this receiver modified it so that when the FM BCST / FM POLICE Switch is in the FM Police setting, an RF (Radio Frequency) preamplifier will kick in for the AM L MB and 13 SW bands. Using a sweep generator, a scope, and a few other odds and ends, I measure an increase in Signal Strength by about 10 to 12 dB or by about 2 S units (on the Collins Scale) -- not too shabby . The only issue with the radio is that the meter needs to be replaced and the antenna is not original. But everything else is in good shape. The audio quality on this receiver is fantastic--it is really excellent sound. I do not have an AC adapter for the unit. It runs on 5 D cells and power consumption is very good. I am an Electronic Engineer with over 35 years of professional experience, I hold a Commerctial FCC General Radiotelephone License as well as an Amateur Radio License and I can tell you that this radio is in good shape. Credit Cards accepted via Paypal. MO/Cashiers Checks immediate shipment.. READ THIS BEFORE YOU BID! By bidding you are acknowledging that you agree with these requirements. Buyer pays for postage and insurance (required). I believe that $20 will cover shipping, packing, and insurance. I double box pack radios to protect them from the shock and vibration of transit--costs a little more but it's worth it! U .S .....B. I .D .D .E .R. S .....O.N.L.Y.!
