Re looking for a "world radio" that will fit in the dash. Recommend you do the www thing, looking for amateur/ham radio receivers for motor vehicles. ICOM makes a dash mounted SSB transceiver that fits fine, but you will need an amateur radio license (very easy to obtain these days in that Morse Code (CW) is no longer required for the first level license. Your local amateur radio/ham radio club probably offers free lessons which just about guarantee you will pass the entry level exam which can get you on the air transmitting world wide and receiving on all the licensed bands from around the globe and via satellite if that is your fancy.

Kenwood and YAESU also make a mobile rigs that might fit the dash. But, I'm used to my ICOM 706 ... takes up only a little room, the tuner that you can purchase separately allows you to use one antenna for all bands.... etc ...

There are probably amateur radio licensees in your home region and community who would be willing and helpful in your quest for the right rig.

Good hunting ...
