I wouldn't get so upset. Personally, I would gladly pay you 6000.00 on Tuesday for a Westy Syncro today. Of course, you always have the option to decline and dash off a "you gotta be kidding me" letter.

Tell them that's a fine down payment but the rest is due before delivery.

Hello Volks,

Just for a lark I submitted my van to poptop heaven to see what kind of price my syncro westy would fetch. Though I recognize we as owners tend to over value our pride an joys, I was a bit insulted by the offer of $6,000 for my ride, particularly after listing the optional equipment I have installed over the years:

86,000 miles Front and rear AC (front unit is BEHR aftermarket) Two gas heaters (Webasto BBW46 & Eberspacher B1L) Volks Cafe big bumpers w/ front and rear 2" hitches SA grille with relay setup Six 15" SA Alloy Rhein Wheels with Michelin Agilis 51 215/65-15 tires Volks Cafe oversized spare tire carrier side step bra silver reflective window insulation pads for all windows "secret audio" radio and 6 disc CD changer optima auxiliary battery 2 battery trickle chargers (wired into shore power) SA "Big Brake" Kit SA super heavy duty mud flaps 12.4 gallon aux. fuel tank smoked glass turn signals & tail lamps "Bagawest" fiberglass box for front luggage rack removable middle bench seat removable front bench seat (passenger side, replaces passenger seat - color does not match) Eurovan type sink faucet rear hatch, skylight, sliding door, and front window (driver and passenger) screens full width front rubber floor mat Yakima 4 bike swing away hitch rack rear three point seat belts S&S header exhaust system seven horns (wired inline) oversized wiper blades (21" & 19") cab window vent inserts VW logo stove grill inserts propane tank gauge

There are a few items on this list that are actually not installed yet, but I wanted to see what they would say about my van in "completed condition". The only VW option it is missing is the locking differential.

If I thought I could buy this van for $6,000 I would buy ten and sell them on eBay for at least double the price....

Thoughts? Chris
