You succumbed to the Gucci Syndrome. I'm not sure if there is a recognized treatment for it. I found that slamming down a few Wild Turkeys with Yuengling Lager chasers while "Bad to the Bone" is blaring on a jukebox will eventually produce good results. It also helps to have something sweet and soft, who is getting more wasted than yourself, sitting at your side.

A less fun cure is to mount a 2 inch, phenolic machine tool ball knob. I got a black one with a brass insert for $2.54. If I had wanted to go with the Pimp-My-Ride Red, it would have cost another buck. The only drawback to this austere but tasteful number is that sooner or later your Sweetheart will demand a shift gate pattern sticker be stuck on the dash.
