Before you spend big bucks on a new seal be sure you have the muffler heat
shield over the muffler. If you don't have one get somebody to send you a
cardboard pattern and make you one from 16-18 ga steel or aluminum.
You'll be surprised how much heat it staves off.
Be careful using general rubber products at that location, they can flame up
on you.
You've got the right idea though, just get about four feet of an old seal
from a list member as a patch measure until you decide to break loose with
$99.00 for the real McCoy.
And then ---------- I'll look to see if I have a filler tube in my treasure
chest.
