Hi Larry and all,

100Ah a day? Pretty impressive! My requirements are much more modest.

I appreciate all the comments about using a Honda generator, but I'm just not looking in that direction. I know that for those that are using these nice generators, the noise is acceptable, but I want something silent and clean (as in, "no oily bits that can get the inside of Mellow Yellow dirty").

"Greenness" is part of my desire to run solar, but it's really more about wanting to keep things simple (electronics are simple to me, electronics with no moving parts even simpler); a desire to not have to deal with gadgets that leak or need flammable liquids (enough of that under the engine hatch!); and to reduce weight and bulk as much as possible. Solar seems as though it will fill my modest needs (20Ah/day). Sure, I'd have to "remote" the panel(s) on a wire to get them into the sun (park in the shade, myself), but that's the kind of constant puttering around the campsite that I do that Mrs Squirrel finds so amusing anyway.
