Hi, No. I mean too long. All belts stretch a little after awhile (which is why they recommend you retightens your belts after 500 miles) and I found the belts that the auto parts store would get too long making it impossible to get them tight enough (i.e. the adjustable arm on the alternator would get to the end of its play). This caused me no end of misery since the belt would start spinning and burn up (melt). No one could figure it out. I did by trial and error ;-) I did have my pwr steering belt jump off a few weeks ago, which now I am suspecting it was because it is too narrow in diameter since it seems plenty tight. (Someone on the list just said that the non-dealer belts are narrower than the dealer belts). Btw, I have been using Goodyear Gatorbelts and they seem pretty good. james

. Hi James & all, I try to aim for a snug belt that sits in the middle of my adjustment play, slot. PS: before you run to the store to trade in the belt, make sure that little hose gets hooked back up !!!!!! Cost me another gallon of anti freeeeeeezzzzeeeee!!!!!!! Why, why why, am I hooked on these bruce dern vehicles ???? :o) keep the faith, John C....
