I suspect it has to do with the wear on the shock from the misbalance of left right loading of the vehicle. Note that the shock update changed most of my lean but not all of it. Would not surprise me that the springs were also showing signs after 25 years of leaning.

A westy with standard configuration has approx 300 lbs more on the drivers side than the pax side and that is without the driver in the seat. Add an aux battery and you have another 50 lbs. 13 gallons of water for another 100 lbs.
