I figure it's just a continuation of my general bad luck on this whole job. Every step has had some sort of complication. Perhaps the Universe is trying to teach me patience.

I haven't had time to call them since figuring out what happened. I let y'all know what they say when I get a minute free at work to call 'em.

You bet. Redline MT-90 in the final drive, and Redline synthetic ATF in the transmission. With all the money I've poured down this rathole, I'd be a fool to cheap out now!

I took my old one apart and put it back together just for kicks, and it's pretty intricate, but not too difficult to put together. I bet the ol' 3 speed auto is a lot easier than any of the manuals or the fancier auto units-- doesn't require any fancy holding jigs, just gotta stack all these nesting parts in the right order-- so they probably give those rebuilds to "the new guy".
