That happens when the neighborhood cats use your wipers to boost themselves to the top of your van. The wiper mounting post are serrated and the wiper arms are soft metal so the wipers strip and you see what you get. You can normally clean the serrations and re-tighten the arm but in some situations you might need to cut some strips from aluminum can and line the inside of the arm to get that extra fudge on a proper fit.

So I am getting in my van this afternoon and accidently hit the wiper switch and my front windshield wipers move down over the front of the van and back up over about a quarter of the windshield. As if they are moving in the opposite cadence the were supposed to. Why is this happening and how do I fix it other than adjusting the wiper arms on the spindle.
