Subject: Input shaft question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all been off the list for some time playing with my 84 vanagon, doing a waterpump swap and most of the seals and hoses for all related removed parts. also sandblasted and POR-15 all replated parts before install. looks very nice. finally got the motor swap on the 85 westi taken care of with also a new water pump and all related seals. so you all know it doesnt leak a drop of coolant or oil from the motor and i cured the problem i was having today by finding the injector plug from #1 on #2. that was the only oops in the whole thing i think i did ok for my 1st water cooled vw motor swap. so now for the question on the input shaft:

* ive replace CV Joints and Boots and Dog bones and all but, ive not replaced a seal for the stub axle to the trans. How does it come out to replace a seal inside. it does have a seal doesnt it? its the only thing that leaves a dime size oil spot on the garage floor after a drive. i could look through the bentley and all but it doesnt leak that fast so i thought i would post the question to the group.

* also on my 84 i need the small plastic pc on the front corner of the passenger seat base in blue. its a stupid part but my back pack got caught on it and snaped it in half.

** also for anyone doing a motor swap or if 1st time owners of vanagons. buy the one you really want then purchase a beater with a bad motor for parts of the same year and part it out. nothing is greater then when you need a part or bolt you just reach for it and keep working. i purchased a 85 for 300.00. for my 85 westi and 84 7 passenger and it has been fantastic when ive needed something. just a rant thanks Jonce
