Since I live on the west coast of Florida, I camp often during the summer.
I find it mandatory, at least for me, to have an A/C unit, so the bugs don't
bother us until we are outside the van.  Then, we practically bath in
Cutter's and hope for the best.

I have also camped in Florida... the bugs are ferocious. The mozzies come up
after the sun goes down and the no-see'ums do get through standard 18 mesh
screen. We make our Skreenz using 20 mesh screen and the no-see'ums can not
get thru...
