Yes, the VW 068 903 803D part is the right version for the Vanagon 90 amp Bosch alternator. It is also used by most alternators on 85-92 VW cars with 90 amp alternators. Extremely common. No, you can't expect to find that VW number on the regulator itself since most are long ago replaced with generic Bosch or knockoff regulators.
